Adult Outpatient Services

THE CENTER FOR COUNSELING AND PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES (CCPS), located at 23 Jones Bros Way, Barre (in the former “Jones Brothers” office building) provides outpatient therapy for adults and children experiencing the emotional effects of life events ranging from distressing to traumatic, whether current or historical in nature.  The CCPS team of therapists includes Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Psychologists, Mental Health Counselors, and training interns.  Individual, couples, family, and group therapies are offered in a variety of treatment modalities focused on meeting clients’ needs.  Treatment is coordinated with services of other departments in the agency.  CCPS staff also provides consultation and education to community agencies and organizations to help prevent mental health problems.

CCPS offers several types of psychological services in both the community and the office.

Adult Psychotherapy Services:

            Office-based psychotherapy in several locations
            LINCS Program: A program for the treatment of the effects of psychological trauma
            Screening and referral and at the People’s Health and Wellness Center a local health center
            Psychiatric Services: Physician and nurse practitioner services for CCPS clients.
            Psychological services at Waterbury Medical Associates

Elder Treatment Services:

With offices co-located with the Central Vermont Council on Aging staff in Washington, Lamoille and Orange counties, staff provides in-home psychological services to elders in these three counties.  This program is a collaborative effort between Washington County Mental Health Services and the Central Vermont Council on Aging, as well as Lamoille County Mental Health Service and the Clara Martin Center.  Referrals for psychological services come from Council on Aging and the community at large.

Child/Adolescent Psychotherapy Services:

            Office-based psychotherapy; individual; family, and play therapy
            School based clinicians provide services in several area schools
